For the final 11 days of 2011, we’re going to take a look at some of the top mistakes made this year in our industry… including social media, marketing, branding, graphic design, web design and SEO.
#2-Facebook isn’t very social
For a company that has helped revolutionized the way we communicate, one would think Facebook would be better at … communicating. It seems to be an ongoing problem that Facebook makes major changes to how it functions and doesn’t adequately explain, announce or warn its users about them. We’ll admit that the new Timeline was much better announced and explained. But beyond that, Mashable has done a consistently better job of sharing information about Facebook that should be coming from the social media giant itself.
Don’t get us wrong, we’re not knocking change. But if you want your target audience to stay happy with you, don’t alienate them by constantly changing and not adequately warning people. Unless your products or services are as addicting as Facebook, you will quickly lose the loyalty of your customer base if you treat them with that much disrespect.
