What interests you most about your new internship?
What interests me most about this internship is learning about web development. In order to be the best designer I can be, it is important that I understand how web development works so that my graphic design abilities can be used in all avenues of communication.
What skill do you think you will enjoy using most in your job and why?
The skill I think I will enjoy using most in my job is logo design because I enjoy the process that is involved in coming up with a creative solution. Logo design is the primary source of identity for a company; the logo becomes the foundation for the rest of the design package.
If you could create a children’s book, what would it be about and what role would you play in creating it?
If I could create a children’s book it would be about a child who is living in a single parent home. The role I would want to play is the person who interviews children to find out how to best present the issue in the book. I would obviously like to design the cover of the book as well.
If you could accomplish a dream hobby, what would it be and why?
If I could accomplish a dream hobby it would be to be a designer on HGTV with Genevieve Gorder. I have always been fascinated by interior design, and Genevieve would be the perfect designer to model-especially since she started in graphic design.
What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received and how did you apply it to your life?
The best piece of advice I have received is “no matter what you’re doing, do it with your whole heart and to the best of your ability.” This advice has been useful in my life as I am starting my career as a designer. Graphic design is a career that takes a lot of experience to get where you want to be. I cherish every opportunity I have to learn new things and gain the proper experience that will help me in the future.
If you could write your own personal tagline, what would it be?
If I could write my own tagline it would be… “Emilie Gorman, designer who is simple, diligent and dependable.”
