The History of The Belford Group

The Belford Group’s journey is a testament to innovation, resilience, and a deep-rooted commitment to excellence. Our story is interwoven with the fabric of family, community, and the relentless pursuit of providing solutions that matter. When Angela and Barry bought the business in 1999, neither could envision what would come.

The Early Days: A Foundation Built on Innovation

The Belfords bought the software company that Barry worked at, called NAIS. During that time, Barry and Angela worked together to deliver exceptional software to companies ranging from city management systems that facilitated everything from soccer sign up to paying your water bill to church management software that managed donations, room rentals, community groups, and more. Among the first undertakings by Barry and Angela was developing and refining software for the county prison system, ensuring its seamless operation during the Y2K scare. This critical work set the tone for The Belford Group’s future—solving complex problems with innovative solutions.

Growth Against the Odds: The 2008 Expansion

As their business grew, it moved from their garage to hiring its first employee and having staff work out of their basement. In 2008, amidst the turmoil of the housing crisis, Angela saw an opportunity for growth. Many raised eyebrows at the decision to expand during such a period of uncertainty. However, Angela’s nimbleness, flexibility, and unwavering commitment to diving deep into the work spearheaded the evolution and success of The Belford Group. This period was not just about survival but about laying the groundwork for a future where The Belford Group would become a beacon of innovation and support for businesses and nonprofits alike.

A Family Affair: The Belford Legacy

The essence of family runs deep at The Belford Group. Angela and Barry, having both been involved in their family businesses from a young age, infused the company with a sense of belonging and community. At various points, all three of their children have contributed to the family business, bringing fresh perspectives and continuing the legacy of entrepreneurial spirit. This familial involvement has been a cornerstone of our identity, embodying a blend of tradition and forward-thinking.
